I know, no one wants to be told what to do but let's face the truth here...rules keep us somewhat civilized. Well, most of us anyway and that's what we are aiming for here at The Winchester Chronicles. It would be very nice indeed if everyone always knew how to act but that's just not the case so in an attempt to maintain order, we expect you to read AND follow every single rule listed here.
Rules
1. First and foremost, we expect you to respect ALL members. No one likes a jerk. NO ONE. It is up to you and me to set the standard here, so let's start it off right. Even when disagreeing with another member (and we know this will happen) please do so without resorting to name calling and/or harassment.
2. Second only to the first, when you signed up for this forum you had to agree with Proboards TOS. Seeing as disregarding these could result in the shutting down of this forum, these will be enforced. Now, considering that most people click that they agree without reading (guilty of it myself at times), you will be given one warning and one warning only. You can read Proboards TOS, here.
3. No flaming. For those who do not know, the simple defintion of flaming is: to "insult someone over the internet". As this would quailify as breaking two rules (both no. 1 and 3) it could result in you being banned. This of course will be dependent upon the staff.
4. No Spamming. There are areas set aside on this forum for those who wish to advertise and therefore will not be tolerated in any other area. If you are unsure if what you want to post belongs in these areas then the best thing to do is pm a member of the staff and ask before posting. First time offenses will not result in a banning but your post will be deleted. It's up to you to make sure your post is placed in the right spot, not ours. Duplicate posts will also be considered as spam.
5. No excessive profanity. This does include all RPG areas. As a guideline, if they can't say it on the show, then you can't say it here. But that is not to say that you can use profanity that IS allowed on the show with every other word you type. Use judgement here folks.
6. No chat speak. How you present yourself or something in real life is every bit as important as whatever it is you are presenting and the same goes for online. Mistakes, misspellings and typos happen but if you are not even trying, it's going to show and no one will take you serious if they can not understand what it is you are trying to say. This goes for all thread posts.
7. Keep it PG-13. Please remember people that there could and most likely will be children present at any given time. This applies to posts everywhere and images placed on this site.
8. Please be active. I'm not saying if you're not online every day your account will be deleted but if weeks and most especially months go by without hearing from you, will. This is not an online community if there is no community to speak of.
9. Keep all images, including those in signature from distorting the layout of this forum. Now, I'm not smart when it comes to pixels and bandwidth and banner height, etc. so I do not know what size is needed to keep that from happening so please help me out just a bit here. If your image stretches the borders, then resize or do not post. Otherwise they will be removed and you will receive a warning.
10. Place posts in correct area. Take the time to look around the forum and find out where your post belongs before posting. As stated before, it is up to you to put your post in the correct area, not us. Otherwise same as above, they will be removed and you will receive a warning.
Above all else have fun!! These rules are not meant to dampen that but to enhance it. Please check back often as these rules are subject to change with or without warning!
